About Aiyana

The founder of Enchanted Flute

Belén PradoI am Aiyana (previously named Belén) and this is my story. I was born to a conservative catholic Spanish family who moved from a rural area to a big city in the outskirts of Madrid. My father was in the army and got a job in the military air base of that city. I could not see or hear the nature environment as we were surrounded by tall buildings and the constant noise of the planes. I never really felt it was my place and I was always dreaming about travelling around world. Nature has been always my great love but my only contact with it was during the holidays at my parents’ village. This led me to study Biology at university and to get involved in the environmental movement. My other big interest was music, and I conventionally studied it as a child, but I quit because I was discouraged by so much study and exams. I always wanted to play the flute, but I thought I lost my chance because I abandoned my music studies.

When I first listened to the sounds of the Native American flute in my teenage years, a part of me felt an instant connection with this music. It took me to the world of the Native American Indians, with which I feel strongly connected. I hoped that one day I could play that beautiful flute and my chance came in 2008 when I found a workshop in Madrid. I had played other flutes in the past such as recorder or tin whistle but never felt the same connection I feel with Native American flute.

For the first few years after my workshop, I was not playing much. My life was busy with my environmental education jobs in Spain and my travelling and volunteering abroad. At the same time my interest for healthy living and spirituality was growing more and more. I tried several therapies, experimented various spiritual paths and started to practise meditation.

I eventually moved to the UK where I studied for a masters in Ecotourism and created an eco-travel business. I lived in several parts of the country and finally decided to settle down in Bristol. It was here where I felt that I needed to play my flute more and share it with others. I created a flute circle and started to teach basic flute workshops. Soon I was invited to play in events, meditation sessions and sound journeys. My interest for the healing potential of sound took me to attend a residential sound therapy training course in Spain which was a life changing experience for me. Upon my return to Bristol I started to offer my own group sound journeys and individual sound therapy sessions. I also improved the quality of my flute workshops and made different levels.

At the end of 2019 I trained in Feminine Sound Healing, which has been specifically designed for women. At this moment I am working with my voice through several workshops and private lessons. I am also training in Ecotherapy at the Ecopsychology School of Spain. I am a member of the Bristol Spiritual Collective and Bright Sky (a platform and community for professional healing and well-being practitioners). These days I do my offering not only in Bristol, but also in other places of the UK and in Spain, and I am enjoying collaborations with many different wellbeing professionals, musicians and sound therapists. Two years ago I started co-creating several retreats about sound healing, movement and nature connection. You can read more about my work as sound therapist in my website Natural Tuning.

I love working with people to help them to connect with their creativity and their self-healing potential, as well as to connect with nature. I am very grateful for this gift that life has given me and to be able to share it with others.
